This wonderful celebration of fatherhood begins with cute little turtle Sebastian telling his father how safe he feels when he’s with him. His father replies, “That’s what a father does… He keeps you safe.” When Sebastian asks what else a father does, Father Turtle begins to play a guessing game regarding all the different things fathers do for their children. When he says, “A father teaches his children to spring and bounce in the grass,” Sebastian guesses he must be talking about a father rabbit, and so the game goes, covering nine different animal fathers and what they do for their young. In the end, Sebastian decides his own loving father is the very best of all. The most beguiling illustrations grace each page, making this truly a delightful read in every way.
