Who Would Like a Christmas Tree?
by Ellen Obed
illustrated by Anne Hunter
Before our Christmas tree finds its way into our home for the holidays, there’s a whole host of other creatures who find shelter, food, protection, and family in its branches. Who, exactly, besides us “would like a Christmas tree”? Well, there are the black-capped chickadees, field mice, white-tailed deer, woodcocks, robins, and balsam twig aphids, to name a few.
Each month of the year, we meet a creature who considers this tree just as important as we do. Colorful double-spread illustrations and simple text offer just enough information to help us appreciate that our Christmas tree was well-connected in nature. The younger child will enjoy the illustrations and the "story" about each animal, and the older child will appreciate the enhanced information about each animal at book's end. A great way to help little ones (and whole families) to appreciate the natural wonder of the Christmas tree.
