Environmental Commitment

In the same way that we are committed to offering high-quality products for eco-conscious customers, Jake & Ella chooses its packaging materials with concern for the environment as well. Approximately 44% of the fiber used in our packaging materials is made from recycled paper materials, with the remaining fiber coming from tree farms in Seattle and Denver, not from endangered forests. This means that the trees that are used to supply our raw materials are replanted once they are used. We also encourage customers to be creative with our paper and cardboard packaging materials by turning them into art projects or playthings for pets, and many of our customers contact us with thanks for not using messy styrofoam peanuts or environmentally unhealthful plastics.

Additionally, Jake & Ella's company site recycles boxes, paper, cans, plastic, and anything and everything that is possible to recycle. We contract with our local land waste management company to ensure that NONE of our recyclables end up in the landfill, and we even pay a significant extra fee each month to ensure that ALL the cardboard and paper materials that come into our warehouse are recycled.

And finally, Jake & Ella purchases renewable energy credits (RECs) to offset 100% of the electricity we use. Our RECs have an annual impact similar to planting 605 mature trees, taking 13 cars off the road, or not driving 148,413 miles in an average car.
